ApplePay Introduction
AApplePay is Apple's mobile payment and e-wallet service, integrated into the Apple Wallet app and widely used on iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices.
ApplePay uses web tokenization technology to store payment information securely in the consumer's ApplePay-compatible device and confirms payments through Touch ID or Face ID authentication.ApplePay meets the European PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements. When a consumer selects ApplePay, a payment page is displayed where they can select a payment card and fill in their contact information and shipping address. They are then prompted to verify the payment via Face ID
or Touch ID
, greatly reducing the risk of credit card theft.
ApplePay offers the following advantages over traditional card payments:
More secure:Apple Pay is based on the hardware security mechanism, the bank card and other data will not be exposed in the public area, the entire transaction process is based on the EMV protocol for payment security, which is more secure and greatly reduces the risk of credit card information leakage;
More Convenient:Users can select any bank card that has been bound to Apple Wallet for payment, and only need to verify TouchID/FacelD, etc., and no longer need to enter information such as CVV, OTP or password;
Higher Conversion:Bank cards etc. are already bound to the user's device, eliminating the need for the user to enter the card number and enhancing the user's willingness to pay.
AApplePay supports Liability Shift for American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard and Visa cards. For Visa cards, Liability Shift is dependent on the iOS version:
iOS 16.2 and higher: Liability transfer applies to global transactions;
iOS 16.1 and below: Liability transfer applies to European-issued card transactions.
ApplePay can only be used on Apple devices (Macbook, iPad, iPhone, etc.) or Safari browsers, and will not work in other environments.Therefore, if a merchant is using an integration model of cashier-specified payment method or direct API payment , then on the merchant's cashier page, a script should be used to determine the current device environment in order to decide whether or not the ApplePay payment method should be loaded.
::: warning: The domain name of the website using ApplePay needs to be registered with Apple and complete the verification. For cashier payment, the domain name is PayerMax's own domain name, so there is no need for the merchant to participate in the setup; however, for pure API payment and front-end components, the domain name is the merchant's own domain name, so it is necessary for the merchant to provide the domain name and set up the certificate according to the requirements. :::
